No Excuses.

One mindset that has helped me stay the course over the years with my fitness and dietary habits is the mantra, ‘No Excuses’ .

When I say that, I mean it…

The death of a family member is not an excuse to not workout and eat junk.

The loss of a romantic partner in a breakup is not an excuse to not workout and eat junk.

The loss of a job is not an excuse to not workout and eat junk.

The only time I give myself slack is if I’m sick, injured, or sensing that I am overtrained and even then I reduce intensity but I don’t sit still.  Whenever I eat junk, I call it what it is and I don’t believe ‘I earned it’.  I simply acknowledge that I’m giving in to a craving.  Call a spade a spade.  If I earn anything, I want to earn the energy and sense of wellbeing that comes with giving my body good movement and nutritious food.

I get it…  It’s kind of hardcore but life is hardcore.  If hard things happening are your excuse for stopping, then you’ll never start and, if you do start, you’ll never be consistent.  So…

No Excuses…  Just Execution.
