TEDx Talk: Adapt and Overcome

I got extended an invite to participate in a virtual TEDx event that went live on August 14th on YouTube. I did this video for TEDxYouth@BellevueHighSchool . Of course, these young people had a live event organized for May 2020 and decided to Adapt and Overcome due to the Pandemic. I’m hoping to use this video as a jump off point for a curriculum I’m working on. I’ve had different versions of this in the past, but I think this video is the most succinct and simple way of articulating what I believe about resilience and problem solving in all of life.

The talk and the cirriculum are based heavily on the following idea:

Problem Solving Loop
  1. We encounter problems.
  2. Evaluate our story relative to that problem.
  3. Separate facts from assumptions.
  4. Create a new story with reasonable assumptions based on the facts.
  5. Hit new problems. (Back to #1).

Watch the video and let me know what you think in the comments!

Solve Problems. Build Resilience.
